Adaware, a product from cybersecurity provider Lavasoft, (formerly known as Ad-Aware), is designed to combat the types of rogue apps and privacy invasions of which a lot of consumers are not aware. Adaware is a suite of programs that monitor your browsing patterns, courses that alter the browser’s homepage and applications that display annoying advertisements at the worst times. This free software comes with a number of features that can increase your device’s security and ensure it runs smoothly.
In our tests, adaware was able to identify the majority of the malware we threw at it. However, it he said had difficulty getting rid of some malware. It does come with several useful extras like a privacy monitor, a registry scanner, file shredder, and advanced network monitoring. It’s worth noting however, that adaware can’t provide quite as much protection as some of most popular antivirus programs in the market.
The last time adaware participated in AV-Test lab tests, it was able to block only ninety five. 4percent of threats that are 0-day and 97% of known risks. These aren’t terrible scores but they’re not close to the best security suites.
Adaware users seeking better performance should consider alternatives. We recommend Kaspersky, Bitdefender and others due to their reliability in real-world testing. Some users may be disappointed to find that only users of the Pro and Total plans have access to technical and customer support via the internet. The company does provide a variety of information and frequently asked questions on its website, though.
